Our
Story

Galya and Heather have always prioritized creating welcoming spaces.

In their respective work organizing and delivering events, Galya and Heather prioritized planning and accommodating for accessibility needs. They drummed up necessary funding and rented ramps, arranged ASL interpretation, ensured dietary restrictions were met, and personally provided childcare when the need appeared.

It was only in partnering together for the first time that Galya and Heather recognized that they had both created a database of accessibility and participant experience systems, resources, and contacts. Combining forces under the name Spectrum Events, Galya and Heather began assisting other event hosts in making their events more accessible and meaningful to their attendees. Spectrum Event's impact was immediate: fewer conflicts, happier participants, and more return guests.

By focusing on the delicate work of accessibility, Heather and Galya allowed event hosts to concentrate on the bigger picture, confident that no guest would be left behind. Click Here to see what Event Hosts have to say about working with Galya and Heather.

Today, Heather and Galya specialize in accessibility and participant experience organizing, helping hosts run smoother events while ensuring every guest feels valued and included.

WORKS

OUR
CLIENTS

Andrea Bass
Director of Operations, Canada's NDP

"Heather Brunet is an exceptional accessibility coordinator and went above and beyond our expectations to ensure our convention was successful for all participants and staff. Heather joined us about two months before the convention and I wish we had found her sooner! We had a number of last minute needs, like finding ASL interpreters in French and English and she used her personal network to find the best people. Heather has a wealth of experience and knowledge which she generously shared with our staff, and helped them not only plan this event better but taught them the tools they need to integrate accessibly into future events as well. Heather is honest, respectful, creative, and a real problem solver. It was so easy to work with her and I’m looking forward to our next collaboration!

Jennifer Yin Barrett
Senior Director of Strategy and Operations, Broadbent Institute

"It has been our pleasure to hire Galya and Heather to support the Broadbent Institute’s delivery of the 2022, 2023 and 2024 Progress Summits, our signature multi-day conferences. The team’s attention to detail, problem-solving skills, empathy for people and politics, and their commitment to professional
event coordination makes them uniquely qualified to support large scale events - particularly ones for and by progressive movements. We have received countless unsolicited comments about the positive experience attendees had interacting or seeking support from the team. Institute staff have also expressed gratitude for their support during event planning and delivery. I highly recommend their work
to organizations looking to host positive, responsive, and professional events or gatherings.”

Jessica Li
Volunteer, Progress Summit

“I had an amazing time volunteering at the Progress Summit in Ottawa. I have a 9 month old and had to bring her with me but the event had free on-site childcare! I love their inclusiveness and it allowed me to truly enjoy and embrace the event. I really hope all events have this feature so parents can enjoy an immersive experience stress-free."

Eva Morrison
Visiting Artist, Progress Summit

“I often offer arts-specific services, but working with Spectrum Events I was able to see how their specialized accessibility and participant experience service can engage a diverse audience by meeting them where they’re at. Heather and Galya folded arts-based engagement into a political context by using a people-first approach.”
